Meet Scorpion
A few details help explain this feature. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations. Scorpion on jl-ludeng.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game. The tableau has seven columns.
Read the opening cards
Here are the details for this mode. The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards. All cards in the last three columns are face up. Three cards remain in the stock.
Check rank and suit together
Here are the details for this mode. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit.
Order within a group may vary
A few details help explain this feature. Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together.
The empty-column rule
A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column. An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider. An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence.
Uncover another choice
Keep these points in mind. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed. The next hidden card is revealed automatically.
Use the stock once
This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty. The stock contains one final deal of three cards. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns.
Collect ordered runs
A few details help explain this feature. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column.
Practice Scorpion decisions
The following details apply here. A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked.
